David Grindrod

Director / FRICS FCABE

David Grindrod graduated with a degree in Urban Land Economics in 1980 and began his career working in local and city centre estate agency and surveying firms, becoming a member of the RICS in 1984.  He has a particular interest in old buildings and studied for a post-graduate diploma in building conservation in 1992. He is also a Chartered Building Engineer.

David leads the residential survey team and his specialities include building surveys, defect analysis, old and Listed buildings and residential valuation work.

David Knight

Director / MRICS

David Knight began in architecture and design including supervision and contract administration of hospital developments, before moving into residential and commercial surveying, as an independent surveyor.  In 2014 David merged his practice with Wardle Grindrod Ltd to form Knight Grindrod Ltd, where he now leads the Commercial Survey team.

David’s specialities include expert witness reports, commercial surveys, building surveys, residential valuation, dilapidation reports, defect analysis and Party Wall matters.

William Grindrod

Registered Valuer / AssocRICS

William joined Knight Grindrod in 2015 after working for a construction supply company.  During his first two years, Will completed a Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation in 2018 and became an RICS Registered Valuer.  He now specialises in Homebuyer Reports and Valuations on residential properties.

Carol Wardle

Administration officer

Carol has been with the company for over thirty years having joined from Mawson and Walton surveyors and estate agents.

Carols experience and expertise ensures our clients receive the highest level of professionalism and service.

Hilary Lane

Administration Officer

Hilary has been working in for the company in survey administration for over thirty years, having previously worked for the NHS as a higher clerical officer and then as a senior secretary to the director of planning in Leeds City Council.

Hilary is one of our client’s first points of contact, who often refer to how helpful and professional she has been during their experience with Knight Grindrod.

Joe Knight

Building Surveyor

Joe graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2015 with a Masters degree in Building Surveying.

He has worked in Leeds city centre commercial practices, one a global scale consultancy. His experience to date is predominantly in commercial and industrial surveying and has included contract supervision and administration of projects for private clients, educational and local authorities etc. These include building extension and alteration works to schools, offices, local authority buildings, recreational facilities, industrial units etc.

He also specialises in dilapidations, condition surveys and reinstatement valuations.

Jessica Emery

Building Surveyor

Jess graduated from Leeds Beckett University in 2008 with a degree in Building Surveying.

Jess has previously worked as part of a property team for a large High Street Building Society. As part of her role she managed the ongoing and planned maintenance of a variety of nationwide high street retail properties and commercial buildings. Some of her duties included full Building Surveys, Project Management of external repairs and internal fit out works. She has broad commercial building expertise and a good understanding of building function, design and repair.
